This presentation reviews the Dual-Factor (distress and well-being continua) Mental Health model, drawing on California Student Wellness Study information. A modified 3 x 3 dual-factor approach is proposed using a sample of more than 8,000 California adolescents. Examples of schools using a dual-factor approach for universal mental health screening in schools will be shared. A bonus will be updated information about how California students’ social well-being changed from 2018 to 2020.
